Federal Agency for Geodesy and Cartography Commissioned New Project to Compile New Arctic Atlas

The Federal Agency for Geodesy and Cartography commissioned a project to compile and publish a national atlas of the Russian Arctic, according to a RIA Novosti report. The entire project was estimated at 80 million rubles, the state purchases website says.
The agency concluded two purchase agreements; each contract was worth 40 million rubles. The contractors under both agreements were selected on a non-competitive basis.
The first contract specified the compilation of original thematic maps and layouts. Finalized reference notes and illustrations for the sections on inland water bodies and soils, as well as for sections on plant and animal life and the state of the environment and environmental protection (the latter is a subsection of the environmental protection section) were to be completed by July 17, 2016. The second contract required layout proofs for the thematic map content, and the compilation of texts and illustrations for these sections by July 27, 2016.
In May 2016, the agency signed a state contract with the Federal Service for State Registration to compile a national atlas of the Russian Arctic.
Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an instruction to compile the national atlas after a June 2014 meeting on the cost-effective and safe development of the Arctic.
