Job specification

The researcher will work in the project “Position estimation of mobile sensors using airborne imagery”. This project is funded by the Technology Foundation STW, part of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research NWO.

The objective of the research project is to develop methods to alleviate the effect GPS outage has on the precision of mobile mapping. These outages are occurring in so-called urban canyons, where the direct line-of-sight to navigation satellites is obstructed. In this project we will develop methods to use airborne oblique and nadir images as independent control and tie information to correct the trajectory estimates of mobile mapping platforms.

Leading companies from the Dutch mobile mapping industries and major end users will form a user committee and closely collaborate with the appointed researchers.
