The Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N) is a premier Indian institution specializing in the application of space technology and geo-informatics. Established to harness the potential of satellite communication, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS), BISAG-N plays a pivotal role in advancing India’s capabilities in these domains.
On March 26, 2025, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BISAG-N to leverage advanced technologies in geographic information systems and remote sensing. This collaboration aims to enhance audit processes by integrating cutting-edge tools and techniques, reflecting the apex auditor’s commitment to incorporating technological solutions and holistic skill development in auditing.
The partnership focuses on developing customized geo-spatial solutions that utilize artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and big data analytics for audit-related projects. It also includes providing technical guidance for integrating geo-spatial tools into audit methodologies and conducting joint research in geo-spatial analysis, remote sensing, and satellite image analytics for audit applications. Additionally, the collaboration aims to identify and develop case studies related to geo-spatial applications in audit and organize training and capacity-building programs for CAG officials.
