The Costa Rica statistical geoportal operates under the project aimed at building geospatial capacities in national statistical offices across Latin America and the Caribbean. This effort is coordinated by ECLAC, with financial backing from the European Union and technical collaboration with Eurostat.
The tool enables seamless management and visualization of geolocated statistical data, which enriches the country’s National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (IDECORI). This integrated approach bolsters public policy design, supports sustainability initiatives, and improves decision-making processes.
Through its advanced technology, the geoportal bridges gaps in accessing localized data, empowering users with tools to analyze trends across various sectors. It is an essential resource for tackling regional disparities and ensuring equitable development.
With its intuitive interface, the geoportal allows users to explore economic, social, and demographic indicators at various territorial levels, from regions to districts. Users can search by statistical topics or geographic areas and download data in multiple formats.
By offering such functionality, the geoportal not only streamlines INEC’s internal processes but also integrates statistical data with other geospatial resources, advancing Costa Rica’s national data ecosystem.
INEC experts have highlighted that the Costa Rica statistical geoportal will be regularly updated to provide access to the latest statistical and geospatial information.
