Goa Launches “One Map Goa GIS” Portal for Smart Governance and Tourism

In a significant move towards digital transformation, Goa unveiled the One Map Goa GIS portal, a cutting-edge tool designed to transform spatial planning, infrastructure development, and governance. Launched by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte, this initiative forms the core of several transformative projects aimed at modernizing Goa’s tourism and digital infrastructure.
The One Map Goa GIS portal employs advanced geospatial technology to offer precise data for decision-making, fostering transparency and efficiency in governance. According to Minister Khaunte, it represents “a revolutionary leap toward e-Governance, fostering inclusivity and progress.”
The launch also included the “Let’s Goa” tourism platform, an innovative solution that enhances the visitor experience. The platform features over 100 hotels, 50 activity providers, and GTDC residencies, streamlining bookings and integrating local businesses. It also highlights Goa’s cultural heritage, promoting wellness, adventure, and hinterland tourism.
Complementing these advancements, the state rolled out free public WiFi hotspots at 75 strategic locations and installed 11 new 4G BSNL towers. These measures bridge connectivity gaps, ensuring seamless digital access for residents and tourists alike.
Chief Minister Sawant emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, “From free WiFi hotspots and 4G towers to the GIS portal and Let’s Goa platform, we are building a digitally empowered Goa. These projects integrate governance, tourism, and local businesses, creating a smart, inclusive ecosystem.”
The ceremony, held at Mantralaya in Porvorim, was attended by dignitaries, including Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, and other senior officials.
These digital initiatives underline Goa’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. At the center of this transformation, One Map Goa GIS is paving the way for smarter governance and enhanced tourism, setting benchmarks for other states in India to follow.
