The crime data is automatically updated in the early morning hours every day, and it provides information on the vast majority of crime categories,such as Arson, Assault, Burglary, Disturbing the Peace, Drugs / Alcohol Violations, DUI, Fraud, Robbery, Theft / Larceny, Weapons, Vandalism etc.. In keeping with the department’s policy, information concerning rapes and most other sex offenses is not included on the maps. However, two types of sex crimes will appear – indecent exposures and peeping toms.
The crime mapping tool surely will assist police departments in reducing crime through a better-informed citizenry. Creating more self-reliance among community members is a great benefit to community oriented policing efforts everywhere and has been proven effective in combating crime.
