Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority to Implement GIS for Real Time Project Monitoring

VUDA
Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority is planning to introduce Geographical Information System (GIS) with an aim of displaying the latest status of its various projects as well as the areas under its administration on a real time basis with the help of a satellite map.

GIS will facilitate the general public to view Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) projects and areas on the map from anywhere in the world.

Andhra Pradesh State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (APSRSAC) will be providing technicall support to set up the GIS Cell at the Vuda office in Siripuram Junction.

Vuda vice-chairman N Yuvaraj said  “It will take six months to officially start working with the advanced tool. VUDA will be the second urban body in the state after  Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to use such advanced technology. We will be spending nearly Rs 10 lakh to set up the cell”.

At present, VUDA is displaying its master plan maps in a JPG format image.
