NRSC Announces Course on Hyperspectral Remote Sensing

National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) was established as a registered society on 2nd September 1974 by Department of Science & Technology, based on a Union Cabinet approval dated December 13, 1973. The objective of organisation being undertaking and facilitating remote sensing activities in the country. NRSA was transferred from DST to new created Department of Space in 1980 as an autonomous centre. On September 1, 2008 NRSA was converted from a autonomous organisation to a fully Government organisation under ISRO and renamed National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC).

About the Course:

The main objective of this course is to enhance the knowledge of the participants in Hyperspectral Remote Sensing and analysis for resource assessment & monitoring.

Course Schedule: One week duration from July 27 – 31, 2015.

Course Content :

The course covers Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Technology & Applications addressing:

  • Principles of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing
  • Hyperspectral Sensors and Data Characteristics
  • Field Data collection using Spectral Radiometers
  •  Data Analysis Techniques
  • Mapping Techniques
  • Spectral mapping

Applications, Case studies and Tutorials in

  • Vegetation mapping
  • Geosciences / Mineral Mapping
  • Atmosphere and Oceanic science
  • Planetary Sciences

Training Focus:

The training is essentially for users who intend to use Hyperspectral data for research and development projects and its utilization in various fields. The course could help the participants gain insight into the complexities of using hyperspectral data and processing techniques and enhance their understanding on the subject.

Course Fee:

The course tuition fee is Rs. 2,000/- for Government, Rs 2,800/- for Private/NGO candidates and   Rs. 1,700 /- for Faculty / Research scholars from Academia. The Fee does not include boarding and lodging Charges. Accommodation is provided for outstation participants in Guest House – II located inside the campus on twin sharing basis. NRSC Canteen serves food for breakfast, lunch & dinner: participants can avail the same at nominal price.

Please send the duly filled-in application form, with 2 stamp size photographs, sponsorship certificate duly signed by the sponsoring authority with seal, copies of qualifying degree certificate only, course fee in the form of account payee Draft, drawn in favour of “Pay & Accounts Officer, NRSC” payable at Hyderabad, drawn not before 22nd May, 2015.

The duly filled-in form along with the above documents should reach Head, T&ED, NRSC, Balanagar, Hyderabad – 500 037, by speed post before 29th June, 2015.
